Wood Floor Tiles – A Great Flooring Solution For Your Home

I am happy to report that we have made some good progress this week! We’ve been busy little bees, sourcing lighting, flooring and other home decor goodies. Slowly but surely, we are pulling together the final details for our rapidly approaching bathroom renovation. As I spent time researching for this phase of our reno, I have really fallen in love with wood looking tiles. Wood floor tiles can add such a beautiful, warm, rustic element to your interior’s design. What’s more, you are able to vary the tile’s size, the pattern and the installation to suit the look you want.

So what is wood look tile flooring you ask? Well it’s pretty much just like it sounds. Wood floor tiles are porcelain or ceramic tiles that are made to look like wood. Many of these new products look so real that it can be hard to tell that what you’re seeing is not real wood! Some of these new tiles have such an amazing level of detail that they can even mimic the look and feel of hand scraped wood floors.

Currently we have hardwood floors in our home. As a result, I know first hand the havoc that kids and pets can reek on wood floors. Dents, dings and scratches, we have them all! What’s more, we’ve had water damage in the kitchen due to a water line leak in the fridge and damage by our exterior doors due to our harsh climate. Wood floors are beautiful, but they are not always a good fit for everyone’s lifestyle.

The major advantages of wood look floor tiles are definitely their performance and durability. Unlike hardwood, wood look tiles can be easily used in wet areas of the home like kitchens and bathrooms without concern for water damage. They are easy to clean and maintain, and offer homeowners a resiliency that wood cannot.

With the rise in popularity of wood look tile flooring, there has been a dramatic increase to the selection of tiles that are available. Whether the look you want is contemporary, rustic, traditional or modern, there is a wood look tile product out there to meet your creative needs. The design combinations are almost endless.

For our little reno journey, we have almost accumulated all of the selections for our main bath…including a wood floor tile! I am hoping next week to give you a sneak peak at our choices and our inspiration. Stay tuned for that! In the meantime, I wanted to share with you some amazing interiors with wood floor tiles that I have found along the way. I hope that they may give you some inspiration for your space.
