Well Christmas is definitely in the air! Christmas is such a magical time of year, especially for those of us lucky enough to have little people running around to share it with. I love all the decorations, the baking, the festivities. But the kids…they are the ones who really make it special for me. My three in particular, make it easy for me to keep up with the Christmas trends because they love to shop and decorate for the season almost as much as I do!
Usually I do pretty well getting a head start on my Christmas shopping and decorating. I like to start my holiday baking early and freeze it. I make a point of ordering as much on-line as possible these days to avoid the lines. Even our tree is usually up in plenty of time because the weeks leading up to Christmas can be pretty frantic. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened this year. In fact, I will probably end up trudging through the crowded malls like everyone else this year. Yuck!

This year has definitely been more gradual in the decorating department. Last weekend we got our “little” tree up which we keep upstairs. We had to go to a two tree system a few years ago to accommodate all of our kids’ decorations. I never thought I would be a two tree person, but here we are! To be honest, I actually love decorating the little tree more. It’s magical watching the kids rummage through their personalized decorations that they have either made or been given. Their little faces light up rediscovering all their Christmas treasures.
Thankfully in between trips to the hockey rink this weekend, we did manage to get our big tree up and decorated. I am not one to jump on every Christmas trend, so we haven’t had much variation in our main Christmas tree’s decor for a few years. This year, however, I was feeling the need to change things up a bit. Looking around for some inspiration, I found some really great ideas for decorating your tree that were both beautiful and manageable. Since I need another week to be ready to reveal my marvelous holiday decor update, I thought I would share my inspirations with you. So here are 12 of my top choices for Christmas trends that you can make your own.
